ShowdUp ("we", "us") runs the ShowdUp app (the "App"). This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and how we protect it. Using the App means you agree to these practices.
Information we collect
When you use ShowdUp we may collect:
- Account: name, email, profile photo at signup.
- Workouts: dates, notes, and photos you submit.
- Groups: groups you join or create, scores, and in-app interactions visible in those groups.
- Device: type, OS, and app version (compatibility and debugging).
- Usage: feature use (e.g. screens, taps) to improve the product.
- Steps: if you enable step tracking, your daily step count and step goal (see "Steps & fitness data" below).
- Push tokens: if you allow notifications, so we can deliver them.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Run the App: workouts, leaderboards, streaks—for you and your groups.
- Send push alerts you’ve opted into (e.g. group activity).
- Improve the App (analytics, feedback) and answer support.
- Meet legal requirements.
We don't use your data for third-party ads.
Sharing
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We may share it only when:
- Group members see it: workouts, scores, and profile in groups you’re in.
- Vendors help us run the App: hosting, analytics, push delivery—under contracts and confidentiality.
- Law or safety require it: legal process or to protect users.
- Business transfer: merger or acquisition—we’ll notify you when required.
Photos
Workout selfies you upload are stored on our servers and shown to people in groups where you share them—not publicly without your clear consent.
Camera or library access is only when you log a workout; you can revoke it anytime in device Settings.
Steps & fitness data
Step tracking is optional. If you turn it on, we read your daily step count from your device—Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS, or your phone's motion sensor (physical activity permission) on Android.
We store your daily step totals and step goal so you can see progress, and days you hit your goal appear to members of your groups. We never write to Apple Health, and we don't share step data with advertisers or use it for ads. You can revoke access anytime in device Settings; deleting your account deletes your step data.
Push notifications
Optional alerts (e.g. friend activity, leaderboard changes) via Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) on iOS and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android—only if you allow them. A device push token is stored so we can deliver these; it's removed when you sign out or delete your account.
Turn them off anytime: Settings → Notifications → ShowdUp.
Storage & security
Data lives on secured infrastructure with TLS in transit and access controls. No online system is perfectly secure; we work to reduce risk.
We keep data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Request account and data deletion anytime via the contact below.
Children
ShowdUp isn't for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data; if we learn we have, we delete it. Contact us if you think that happened.
Your rights
Where applicable you may ask to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or limit certain processing.

Delete your account
You can delete your ShowdUp account and its data at any time, in either of two ways:
- In the app: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, workouts, photos, step data, group memberships, nudges, and push tokens.
- By email: send a request to hello@showdup.club from the email on your account and we'll delete it for you.
Deletion is permanent and can't be undone. Residual copies in backups are purged within 30 days. Some records may be retained where the law requires it.
Updates
We may change this policy; we’ll update the date at the top and may notify you in the App or by email when it matters. Continued use after updates means you accept the new terms.
